the highlight of medical school?

So... we've been talking about since before even arriving at university, and now the time has arrived. 400 Newcastle medical students are dispersed across the globe, practicing "medicine" of all sorts for 2 months. It really is remarkable when you consider all the other medical students from other universities in the UK, let alone other countries, to think about the migration of medics at any point in the year. Its a wonder that it does not disturb the balance of student vs doctor ratio.

Our official elective period started 3 days ago but I am still, in fact, in Newcastle. Since then my friends' facebook alerts have gone mad! It's incredible how in-touch everyone is despite having having "left" for 2 months! I have an exciting concert in the Sage, Gateshead tomorrow evening so I have delayed the start of my elective until Monday.

Keep an eye on this blog if you want to follow my experiences in Geneva and Dakar over the next couple of months...
